Well I am back now and I apologize for not leaving a post. I was still in the stage of figuring out what type of blog I wanted to do. I think now that I can settle on this one and just write what's on my mind. Hopefully you can enjoy the reading.
Now that that is out of the way, I wanted to express my sadness at what happened last night. I was watching Monday Night Raw when I heard Edge had a major announcement, he was retiring due to issues from a broken neck sustained eight years ago. I immediately got online to see if it was real or a work. It turned out to be very real.
I am not going to sit here and act like I was a big Edgehead. I did, however, enjoy the guys work, especially as a heel because you wanted him to get what was coming to him. As he stated in his retirement speech, he was first a loner wearing sunglasses, then a sudo Vampire in the Brood Stable, then a comedic heel with Christian in their classic tag team pairing which saw them win seven World Tag Team Titles. They were instrumental in the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs classics that revolutionized the business and made them famous along with team 3D and the Hardy Boyz.

His latest character transition was the Rated R Superstar, a cutting edge (no pun intended) character that pushed the envelope, mainly with females. He drew big ratings in his first WWE title reign. He also drew much controversy due to his relationship with Lita, a highly publicized affair that ended his friendship with Matt Hardy, and Edge's marraige at the time. This was one of the rare moments that real life played out on televisions. From what I hear they all reconciled and so it is an afterthought now. He garnered the nickname "The Ultimate Opportunist" due to some of the shady ways his character achieved success which included 11 World Title reigns. Either way, he mastered the Rated R character and fans loved to love him or hate regardless of whether he was a heel or face.
Edge has won a record 31 championships in the WWE, the most by anyone. He is a Hall of Famer for sure. This article does not do his career justice and he will be missed. On the good side, his last match was one half of the main event at Wrestlemania and he retired World Champion. My suggestion to the WWE is put the belt on his best friend Christian. That would be a great storyline and a great way to send off Edge. Christian deserves a title reign much like anyone else. This scenario is very possible since they will most like move Alberto Del Rio to Raw in the next WWE draft. I will stay tuned and see. Thanks Edge for all your hard work entertaining people like me. Enjoy your retirement in the great state of North Carolina.
